This is just one parent reply from hundreds, but it illustrates why we work in this business and the importance of parent communication.
"Once again, thank you for helping my son. He has gone through some very difficult personal challenges in his life. You have no idea what a gift it was to see him after working with you. He was beaming with pride that he finished all of his homework, and that you had told him that he had done a great job. Its amazing how we can make such a big difference in someone's life, without even knowing it." |
| Chas Blackford – Director of Technology After a long career as an innovative entrepreneur in the automotive sector, I changed horses in the mid-nineties and leveraged my art school education and technology interests to take part in the San Francisco dotcom boom. Surviving the bust, and learning many lessons on the practical applications of technology in the work place, I continue to assist numerous Bay Area companies in e-commerce and B2B Web initiatives. I also hold a number of patents for innovative processes used in various online applications. ASAP came into existence as my son entered middle school. He was attending The Homework Club twice a week and giving me little feedback ("nope", "nuthin'", "not much" were the standard replies to my school-work inquiries). I began an extended dialogue with HWC founder Susan Everingham and her tutors. Numerous shared experiences, and our realization that better communication was the key to parent/student/tutor success, provided the impetus to create ASAPlink. My son talks to his tutors. Then, using ASAPlink, his tutors easily inform me on the status of his tutoring session (sometimes, I even know his homework status before he gets home). As a divorced parent, his mother is also kept in the loop via the ASAPlink Progress Reports, as are certain key teachers. This full-circle communication is essential to our family. Contact: |
