Steven,

Thank you for this information.  Joe felt very prepared for the history test
today and positive about the outcome.  He told me that he felt that he knew
all the short answers and pretty good about the multiple choice questions.
In the past, the multiple choice have given him a problem.

We briefly discussed the possibility of tutoring over the weekend of 6/4 and
6/5 to help with the Math exam.  What is your availability?

Kim

Hi Steve, Thanks for the update. Amanda will have her work done this week. I knew she hadn't finished, but I assumed she would do it Friday night.  We did have a nice weekend together. She read alot which is a struggle for her since she does not enjoy it. Anyway thanks for the update. She will see you Thursday at 9.

Steve,

Thanks for your thoughtful comments.  I agree with your insights.  I believe that Julie would be motivated to succeed in AP biology.  She can memorize well, and the material in Biology is not beyond her ability or interest my opinion.  I know she can also do well in Physics with your help, but I don't think she will enjoy it as much, nor do I think it gives her the best shot at improving her position Re college apps , etc.

I hope we can find out how the decision was made about Julie's failure to get into AP Biology.  I do believe that Mrs. Portnoy's recommendation or lack thereof was instrumental.  May be the school will reconsider.

Steven- Thanks for the update.  It is nice to hear that their confidence level is so high.  I think they can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, and are determined to make May or June the last time to take this-rather than dragging it into the fall. They both seemed to do well on the writing.  Did they have the results with them, or just verbally tell you?

Dear Steven,

This is absolutely wonderful!!!  I wasn't expecting this.  I can see where my money is going now.  I hope she holds the interest and enthusiasim.  The next 4 weeks are very busy with Lacrosse and all but she will learn to manage.  If not maybe we'll get her some Prozac.  Just kidding!

Steven,

Thank-You for your summary of last nights session. I encouraged Scott to ask for help in his other subjects and was glad to hear you worked a bit on geometry.    He was impressed that you had a copy of his math book.

Thanks for the report.  Allison is enjoying working with you.  She has worked with other tutors before and says that you really know how to teach!!

4pm on Thursdays is fine.

Thanks

To Whom It May Concern,

In all after-school programs, one of the most important and often lacking elements for success is communication with parents. Parents care about the progress their child is making. They want to know how things are coming on a regular basis. Yet often times, offering this type of regular communication is difficult.

This is where ASAP comes in. ASAP is a program developed specifically to facilitate this kind of communication. It allows tutors to offer parents more than just help with their children's homework. It gives them a vehicle for keeping parents informed.

Beyond that, ASAP helps keep a busy after-school program running efficiently. Because of its built in attendance features, it makes accounting for who's there and who's not a breeze. It also allows users to immediately inform parents when a child has missed a scheduled session, important for both safety and disciplinary reasons.

A third, more subtle benefit I found from using ASAP was that it required me to take the time to reflect upon my own performance each day. It gave me a chance to think about what worked well, what needed improvement and where I wanted to go next with each student. This made me a much better tutor without a doubt.

I would highly recommend ASAP for any program that wishes to achieve these goals of increased parental communication, program efficiency and higher tutoring standards. And this is to say nothing of the statistical information that ASAP allows its users to gather and analyze over time. But don't take my word for it. Try the demo for yourself. I'm sure you will see why running ASAP will become standard operating procedure for any serious after-school program in no time.

Example Replies to Progress Reports:

"Thanks so much for the detailed report. Allison's teacher, Miss Jenkin, has commented how homework club has helped teach her organizational skills which has turned her grades around. Thank you so much!!! Keep up the good work!"

"Thank you for all YOUR help and support. Josh is the kind of child that is often described as "challenging" which may be something of an understatement, and we appreciate you working with him, guiding him and tutoring him. I'm sure you'll see him again next year."

"Thank you very much for your comprehensive progress report on Lindsey today. I am really happy to hear that Lindsey is doing well and appreciate that you go beyond reporting on academic issues to discuss class participation. I am extremely impressed with the depth of your reporting and with the fact that, to date, the homework club has been exactly as advertised."

"Dear Ms. Kender--First, I want to tell you how much I appreciate what a difference this has made in Anthony's life. He is feeling so much more confident, he is taking initiative at home to do homework, he is not fighting me about going to HWC. Thank you--and I love getting the nightly report. You guys do a wonderful job."

"Thank you Samantha for the report on Melina. Your help is greatly appreciated by her and we know it. She seems very motivated to do the work."
